AIRPORT FACTS

Sydney Airport -- also called Kingsford Smith Airport -- is Australia’s most important and busiest commercial airport. Sydney International Airport was opened in 1920 and is one of the oldest continuously operating airports in the world.

Sydney Airport covers just 880 hectares on the northern shoreline of Botany Bay and processed almost 24 million passengers in 2002 (about 35% of these were international travellers), with just over 250 000 aircraft movements

SYDNEY AIRPORT TERMINAL

Sydney airport has 3 separate terminals number as:

Train

The Domestic rail station is located directly below T3 Qantas Domestic Terminal. You can access it from inside these terminals. Virgin Blue passengers should follow the well signed footpath to the station.

The International rail station is located directly below T1 International Terminal and is reached from inside the terminal on the arrivals level.

Airport Link is the fastest and most convenient way to reach the the city's centre. Trains run every 10 minutes and the journey into the city takes only 13 minutes.

The domestic station links directly to the City Circle (Central, Museum, St James, Circular Quay, Wynyard and Town Hall stations) all of which are underground city stations.

Passengers wishing to travel to the Sydney suburbs can catch the train to Central Station and then change for the required suburban services.

Passengers can also transfer to T1 International terminal for only A$4 – ask at the station ticket window

Shuttle Bus Services

There are several private different shuttle services that run to and from the city (and even some suburbs). They depart regularly from the front of the airport terminals and cost around A$10 per person for a one way trip into the city. It takes approximately 20 minutes to arrive in the city from the airport.

Note: The government run Airport Express bus ceased operation when shortly after the train link was built.

Taxis

Each terminal has its own sheltered taxi rank with supervisors on hand in peak hours to ensure a smooth flow of taxis.

If you have any special needs, see the kerbside supervisors. They can organise taxis with baby capsules, wheelchair access, 5 seaters, station wagons for lots of baggage, and maxi taxis for groups.

Sydney Airport offers a range of car parking options such as Short Term, Long Term and Quickpark to cater for travellers and visitors alike.

International Terminal Car Park

The International Terminal Car Park is located on Arrivals level of the International Terminal. You can make your payment via the cashier when exiting the car park or via new automated pay stations located conveniently at the pedestrian entry to the car park.

Domestic Terminal Car Park

The car park is now accessible from both Departures and Arrivals levels. New lifts and Departures level footbridges provide direct and easy access to the terminals. Payment is via new automated pay stations which are conveniently  located throughout the car park.

The high speed pay stations can process both cash and credit card payments.
Long Term Parking

Long Term Car Park (Sydney Airport's best kept secret) is the convenient and cost effective option for passengers leaving on longer holidays and business trips. You can enter Ross Smith Avenue from General Holmes Drive or Sir Reginald Ansett Drive and follow the signs to the car park (located near the heliport). (For more information ph: +61 (0)2 9352 7071

Courtesy buses operate regularly to and from the International, Domestic and Express Terminals.

From long term car park to:

T1 International terminal - Shuttle buses leave every 20 minutes from 4am – 11:40pm and the trip takes approximately 10 minutes T2 &T3 domestic – shuttle buses leave every 15minutes from 3am – 11:45pm. The trip to T3 domestic takes approximately 7 minutes including a stop at the T2 terminal
